I've just returned from a family vacation, and heard the sad news. I'm so sorry I couldn't have been here for the services for my dear friend Susan; my most sincere condolences are offered, albeit belatedly.

Only a couple of months ago at my retirement bash, I spoke of Susie (as I always called her) and lamented her inability to be there to celebrate with me (as she most definitely would have been, were she able).

This is a very sad loss for so many, though there is relief in the knowledge that her difficult struggle is over.

Rest in peace, my friend.
