Condolence: Condolence From : Manfred’s friends and colleagues – Jebba Hydro Project – 1980’s

We were in Nigeria as part of the Montreal Engineering team at the time of the construction of the Jebba Hydroelectric Dam. We have known Manfred as a true gentleman and appreciated his companionship in our community of expatriates.

To paraphrase John Donne, the bell tolls for us also, as we feel that Manfred's departure diminishes us. [Blacks, Bloises, Harveys, Logans, Rigss, ...]

Our deepest sympathies

Condolence From: Allyson Campbell
Condolence: I was so shocked and sorry to hear of Uncle Manfred's death. I have so many fond memories of him from my childhood, especially from times that we spent with him, my cousins and aunt on the boat and at their cottage in Hay Bay. He was an incredibly intelligent man and I very much enjoyed our conversations especially as I got older and could greater appreciate and participate in them. I will never forget the wonderfully supportive call that he made to me following a very tragic event in my life. It was so genuinely and whole-heartedly made and it helped immensely. It was so wonderful to see such happy pictures of Manfred at Eric's wedding. A truly proud parent. I am very sorry to not be able to attend the funeral. Distance is a very difficult thing sometimes. He will remain in my thoughts throughout the day and long into the future.

Condolence From: Marina and Brian
Condolence: I waved to Manfred as he went to pick up his car after haulout, our last goodbye. Shockingly unexpected. Marina and I always enjoyed his stories of his trips to exotic and sometimes dangerous places. He had persistently and methodically tackled many difficult situations, from technical - building large mechanical operations for damns around the world, to cultural and social differences in remote places. More recently, he sent pictures of his trips along Lake Superior with Josie. I'll miss the tender way he said 'Josie'. His very likable sons are a testament to his character. He was yard master at the club for a time and always contributed. He'll be missed.

Condolence: Janine and I would like to express our condolences to the family. Manfred, you will be sorely missed by all your friends at AYC.
You were always a generous and kind friend willing to support anyone who might need it. What a fascinating life you have led. We know that because you always had stories of your amazing travels and experiences.
May the wind be always at your back and long may your big jib draw.
