ZIMMER, Howard J. Sr. - Peacefully at his home, on Monday, March 30th, 2009 in his 66th year. Beloved husband of Ruby for over 43 years. Loving father of Helen (Alex) Swiryd, Vickie Zimmer-Benn, Howard Jr. "Joe" (Tracy) and James. Devoted grandfather of nine grandchildren, Crystal, Christine, Ashley, Kristen, Christopher, Danny, Paul, Honey and the D.J. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Roy (Lois), Jerry, Barbara-Ann (Daryl), Joan, Verna, Fred, Paul, Mary (Al) and Gary (the late Terca). Predeceased by his parents Harry and Marjorie, and his sister Viola. He will also be sadly missed by his best friend Jim Ackey and many nieces, nephews and friends. Howard loved to fish, fix cars, and was well known for his extensive clock collection. At his request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the McMaster University Hospital or a chairty of your choice would be appreciated. A special thanks to Dr. Majors, Dr. Auchinachie and his homecare nurses for their care and compassion. A tree will be planted in memory of Howard in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
